Welcome to Baobab Lodge & Spa

Nestled in the heart of Blantyre, Malawi, our family-owned lodge & spa offers a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature’s beauty and warm hospitality.

We initially opened our doors in 2019 as a place for backpackers to call home while exploring Blantyre and surrounding areas.

Today, we have since expanded the Lodge's amenities while continuing the mission to offer a safe, cozy and relaxed environment at an affordable price.

We offer the following accommodations:

• 2 Executive Studios, each fitted with an en-suite kitchen, bathroom and working area. Perfect for business travelers or people who enjoy extra comfort.

• Baobab Friends Suite, includes 2 bedrooms, sitting lounge and shared bathroom.

  Note, each bedroom can be rented together or individually.

• Baobab Family Room, includes a queen bed and bunk bed, as well as an en-suite bathroom and sitting area. Perfect for family to stay together.

• 2 Baobab Travelers Rooms, includes 4-6 single bunk beds with a shared bathroom. The rooms can be arranged accordingly (e.g female only, group bookings). Perfect for solo, groups or budget travelers.

• Garden Camping, bring your own tent equipment or rent ours and find the perfect spot in our gardens to relax. Campers have access to an indoor hot showers and toilet.

All rooms have air conditioning and mosquito nets for your comfort.

Tranquil Garden Spa:

Tucked away at the bottom of our lush gardens, our peaceful spa is a sanctuary for deep relaxation. Unwind in the sauna or treat yourself to a selection of massage treatments, surrounded by nature and quiet.

Cafe and Bar:

Our cafe and bar offers indoor and outdoor seating, creating the perfect setting to enjoy a drink, grab a bite, share stories, or simply soak in the atmosphere day or night.

24/7 Security, Reception and Connectivity:

Our security and reception teams are on site 24/7, ensuring both peace of mind and assistance whenever you need it. A lodge-wide mesh Wi-Fi system provides reliable internet access throughout the property. We are also supported by a new borehole and two water tanks, allowing guests to enjoy hot showers at any time. Solar energy is planned for 2026 — fingers crossed!

Transportation Services:

A shuttle van is available for local tours, general transport, and airport transfers, offering guests a convenient and reliable way to get around.

Group Bookings

Thanks to the size and layout of our lodge, it is ideal for group stays and exclusive-use bookings. With a total of 7 rooms — 5 private rooms and 2 dormitories — the lodge comfortably accommodates 15–20 guests. When reserving the entire lodge, your group enjoys the added convenience of dedicated staff, catered meals, and access to our shuttle van, allowing you to relax and focus on your time together. Events

We love hosting intimate events, from birthday celebrations to board meetings and company off-sites. Our lodge provides a relaxed yet functional setting, with Wi-Fi, a projector, tables and chairs, as well as custom catering and drinks packages available to suit your event.
